Witness the Wonder, World Outdoor Athletics Championships Budapest 2023, Day 44: Five Athletes from the Caribbean who should be on the Podium in Budapest.

This is our 44th day of previews of the 2023 World Outdoor Athletics Championships, in Budapest, Hungary, from August 19-27, 2023. I found my hotel, which costs 1/3 of the price that we were charged in Eugene, Oregon, last year! Great airfares to Budapest (Lufthansa, Swiss Air, TAP, and Air Baltic are all good). Today, we are speaking about athletes from the Caribbean who should be on the podium in Budapest.

Kirani James. Guyana. 400 meters. The Only man to take three Olympic medals in the 400 meters. In London, Kirani took gold; in Rio, Kirani took silver; and in Tokyo, Kirani took bronze. The superstar from Guyana also has a complete set of medals from the World Championships. Kirani James is a force to be reckoned with over the full lap. What will he do in Budapest?

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Jamaica. 100m, 200m, relay. SAFP is a brilliant sprinter. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has won five World Championships at the 100 meters. What will the Jamaican Pocket Rocket do in Budapest? Never discount a woman who has run 10.65-10.70 so often.

Elaine Thompson. Jamaica. 100m, 200m, relay. Elaine Thompson is the double Olympic champion at 100 meters and 200 meters. She has yet to win her first individual World Championship title. Will Elaine Thompson win her first individual title in Budapest?

Steven Gardiner. Bahamas. 400 meters. Steven Gardiner is the 2017 London silver medalist in the 400 meters. In Doha, in 2019, Steven won the gold in the 400 meters and Olympic gold in the Tokyo 400 meters. Back from injuries, Steven has run a couple good 400-meter races this year so far, and he will be tough in Budapest!

Shericka Jackson. Jamaica. There are five Olympic gold and Eight World Championship medals in Shericka Jackson’s medal collection. Shericka Jackson won the 200 meters in Eugene and has already run 21.98 in the 200 meters this season. Shericka will defend her title in Budapest and watch the Jamaican shine.
